Launched in 2010, EIT Climate-KIC has since then been working to bring together, inspire and empower a dynamic community to work towards a zero carbon economy and a climate resilient society, with the vision of enabling Europe to lead the global transformation towards sustainability. With over 250 partners, from the academic, public and private sectors the EIT Climate-KIC connects research with technology and business to find ways to mitigate climate change or to adapt to climate change consequences. This is done through innovation projects, education activities and an extensive entrepreneurship program. EIT Climate-KIC focuses on the four themes “Urban Transitions”, “Sustainable Production Systems”, “Decision Metrics & Finance” and “Sustainable Land Use”. Montanuniversitaet Leoben has been partner of EIT Climate-KIC since 2017, which allows access to a large network of interesting partners and a variety of activities, mainly in the “Urban Transitions” and “Sustainable Production Systems” themes but also in the area of education.
