UniNEtZ – Universitäten und Nachhaltige EntwicklungsZiele (Universites and Sustainable Development Goals) is a project of 14 Austrian universities, which was initiated by the Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria. The aim of the project is to create a catalogue of options (“Optionenpapier”) for the implementation of the SDGs. The catalogue shall identify and evaluate options of how to archive a future implementation of the SDGs. A short-term goal was the support of the Austrian Republic’s report at the United Nation High-level Political Forum (HLPF) in spring 2020. Simultaneously, the project’s aim is to foster sustainable development in Austria. Thereby, positive synergies arise, such as improved interdisciplinary interconnectedness, strengthened cooperation between universities, research facilities and ministries as well as identification of research needs.
